Deliberation on Domestic Manufacturing Status for BMS, EMS, Battery Containers and Battery Cells for Grid Applications
August 24 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

NETRA is organizing a members-only deliberation on the current status of domestic manufacturing for key grid-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) components. The Ministry of Power has sought industry inputs to support the policy roadmap and related considerations for domestic manufacturing in the energy-storage value chain. This deliberation will help consolidate NETRA members’ perspectives on domestic capability, imported dependencies, suppliers, certification readiness, and gaps requiring policy support.
Participation: NETRA members only
Mode: Virtual meeting
Discussion areas
The session will cover the following four segments:
- Energy Management Systems (EMS): Major hardware and software sub-components, indicative cost breakup, current domestic manufacturing capacity, imported components, and key domestic suppliers.
- Battery Management Systems (BMS): Major sub-components and their cost breakup, domestic manufacturing capacity at battery-cell and container level, import dependence, domestic and international suppliers, and certification status of domestic suppliers.
- Battery Containers: Major sub-components excluding battery cells, cost breakup, domestic manufacturing capacity, imported components, and key domestic suppliers.
- Battery Cells: Major cell-level sub-components, cost breakup, current domestic manufacturing capacity, imported components, and domestic suppliers.
Your active participation and practical inputs will be valuable in ensuring that NETRA’s submission accurately reflects the present state of India’s BESS manufacturing ecosystem and the measures needed to strengthen it.
We request members to join the deliberation and share relevant info, experience, manufacturing perspectives, supplier information, and policy recommendations.
