Unlocking India’s 10 GWh ACC Opportunity: Global Webinar on Battery Manufacturing & Grid-Scale Storage

India’s energy storage sector continues to gain momentum, driven by the rapid expansion of renewable energy and the increasing need for reliable grid-scale storage solutions. In this context, NETRA successfully hosted a Global Webinar on India’s 10 GWh Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Manufacturing Incentive Program under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. The session brought together a diverse group of global and domestic stakeholders to explore emerging opportunities in stationary energy storage.
The Ministry of Heavy Industries’ tender for 10 GWh ACC battery manufacturing was highlighted as a pivotal step toward strengthening India’s domestic battery ecosystem and reducing import dependence. With a strong focus on grid-scale stationary storage applications, the initiative was recognized as a major opportunity for manufacturers, investors, project developers, and technology providers.
The webinar provided a comprehensive overview of India’s ACC manufacturing landscape, including the current status of gigafactory development and evolving demand trends. Participants gained valuable insights into the RFP structure, bidding process, eligibility requirements, and evaluation criteria.
Key discussions also addressed critical challenges such as supply chain constraints, financing barriers, technology choices, and implementation risks. The importance of strategic partnerships, policy support, and innovation in scaling battery manufacturing capacity was strongly emphasized.
Overall, the session offered actionable insights for stakeholders to effectively engage with India’s growing energy storage market and contribute to building a resilient and future-ready battery manufacturing ecosystem.
